Municipal Court Criminal Record Search

Criminal court files at the municipal court are searched for misdemeanor records. While some county courts maintain a central aggregate index of all municipal courts located in a county, most municipal courts in the United States are not part of these central aggregates. Therefore, if a true comprehensive misdemeanor criminal record search is required, searches must be conducted at the municipal court. A search of the municipal criminal court may yield criminal acts that are a minor violation of state law as well as criminal acts that are in violation of city law. The search covers a history of seven (7) years from the date of request unless available otherwise or instructed otherwise by Client. Some reporting prohibitions may apply based on the state in which the court is located. Detailed information on records found will include, when made available by the court, but may not be limited to; date of offense, charges, plea, disposition and sentence.

County Court Criminal Record Search

Criminal court files at the state jurisdictional court (county court) are searched for felony and misdemeanor records. Searches are conducted by name and at the court(s) required by Client’s customized background screening program. Each county court search will cover a history of seven (7) years from the date of request unless available otherwise or instructed otherwise by Client. Some reporting prohibitions on records that antedated the report by seven years may apply. Detailed information on records found will include, when made available by the court, but may not be limited to; date of offense, charges, plea, disposition and sentence. Open arrest warrants are also reported and generally include cases awaiting trial or charges for failure to appear.

Federal Court Criminal Record Search

Criminal court files at the United States Federal District Court are searched for felony and misdemeanor records. Searches are conducted by name and at the court(s) required by Client’s customized background screening program. Each federal district court search will cover a history of seven (7) years from the date of request unless available otherwise or instructed otherwise by Client. Some reporting prohibitions on records that antedated the report by seven years may apply. Detailed information on records found will include, when made available by the court, but may not be limited to; date of offense, charges, plea, disposition and sentence. Open arrest warrants are also reported and generally include cases awaiting trial or charges for failure to appear.

In some states, CrimeSweep will use several different sources for more comprehensive coverage. Records found will be identified with the subject of the background investigation, verified through the court where the record originated, and refined with the most accurate up-to-date information provided by the court.

CrimeSweep National

CrimeSweep National by CS is a comprehensive, FCRA compliant criminal record search with national geographic coverage. CrimeSweep National utilizes a criminal database containing over 200 million records. The records comprising the database are obtained from county, state, and federal entities as well as incarceration and law enforcement records. Records found will be identified with the subject of the background investigation, verified through the court where the record originated, and refined with the most accurate, up-to-date information provided by the court.

CrimeSweep National can be used as a stand alone search; however, CS recommends that this searched to be used as a supplement to a county court record search.

CrimeSweep Sex Offender Search

CrimeSweep Sex Offender by CS searches sex offender data sources nationwide, such as: Bureaus of Investigation, Departments of Law Enforcement, Departments of Corrections, Departments of Justice, Departments of Public Safety, Sheriff’s Departments, State Attorney General’s Offices, and State Police. This database is compiled from violent and sex offender registries in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Sexual offender data will only be reported if it can be substantiated by the original reporting agency and when considered in compliance with federal and state laws.

Please note that CrimeSweep Sex Offender does not contain information on all convicted sex offenders. Some states provide information only for sex offenders with assessment scores of Intermediate or High.

Fingerprint Services

Fingerprint criminal record searches are conducted utilizing the Ohio State Attorney General BCI&I WebCheck equipment. All criminal records reported by the WebCheck system will be researched and refined through the court where the record orginated. This search is only available in Ohio.
