The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has reported that the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 (Rev. 2/2/09) will continue to be valid for use beyond June 30, 2009.
Although the form has an expiration date of June 30th, the USCIS has requested that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approve the use of the current Form I-9 version. While this request is pending, the Form I-9 (Rev. 2/2/09) will not expire.
When the extension is approved, the USCIS will provide an updated Form I-9. Employers will have the ability to use either the Form I-9 with the new revision date or the one with the 2/2/09 revision date.
Corporate Screening has been monitoring the status of the revised Form I-9 since April 2009. We will continue to keep you apprised of any updates as they arise.
