Corporate Screening has noted that states are increasingly moving away from fulfilling requests for transcripts and verifying GEDs, and are transferring this to other entities. Recently a change in the GED verification process took place in California, and for about a week during the transition period, Corporate Screening was temporarily unable to verify GEDs.
We recently learned Ohio is in the process of making similar changes to how GED transcript and verification requests are handled. The transition begins on Monday, March 17, 2014 is slated to be complete on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. During this time, there may be a delay in verifying GEDs. Please note the following changes and the dates associated with each:
Effective Monday, March 17, 2014 the Ohio Department of Education cannot fulfill paper requests for transcripts or diplomas. It will handle only online requests through Ohio’s GED system through Monday, March 31, 2014.
Beginning Tuesday, April 1, 2014, the national GED Testing Service will fulfill all requests for transcripts and diplomas earned before 2014.
GED Credentialing™ is the service that provides Ohio’s GED® transcripts and diplomas from the GED® Testing Service. Ohio remains the issuing agency and the diploma features Ohio’s official signatures and design. The GED Office at the Ohio Department of Education no longer processes any transcript or diploma requests by phone or email.
We apologize in advance for any delays this transition may cause, and will keep you informed of any updates to the transition.
