October 10 Update: As Hurricane Michael approaches the Florida panhandle, it has intensified greatly to nearly a Category 5 storm. Forecasters are expecting it to remain at Hurricane strength as far inland as Atlanta, GA. Please expect delays in most counties in Georgia as they are still being evacuated, in addition to the hardest hit counties in the Florida panhandle. October 9 Update: Hurricane Michael is soon expected to make landfall along the Florida panhandle. Widespread wind damage is likely on the coast and for several miles inland. Forecasters are predicting a threatening storm surge, flooding rains and tornadoes as the storm makes landfall this week.
Courts and schools in Florida’s Gilchrist, Levy, Dixie and Suwannee Counties will be closed Wednesday, October 10.
This storm is expected to track inland. Inland flooding and winds are anticipated, which could impact courts, education and employment verifications well outside of the North Central Florida area. Expect delays over the next several days as the storm passes, damage is assessed and government offices reopen.
