Criminal court files at the municipal court are searched for misdemeanor records. While some county courts maintain a central aggregate index of all municipal courts located in a county, most municipal courts in the United States are not part of these central aggregates. Therefore, if a background check requires a true comprehensive misdemeanor criminal record search, record searches must be conducted at the municipal court. A search of the municipal criminal court records may yield criminal acts that are a minor violation of state law as well as criminal acts that are in violation of city law. The criminal record search covers a history of seven (7) years from the date of request unless available otherwise or instructed otherwise by Client. Some reporting prohibitions may apply based on the state in which the court is located. Detailed information on criminal records found will include, when made available by the court, but may not be limited to; date of offense, charges, plea, disposition and sentence.
